Nyan Cat Nails

In case you don't already know Nyan Cat, he is a poptart cat with a rainbow trail who flies through space, of course! Here is the song you will have in your head all night:

I've wanted to do nails of this for aaages and recently got some glequins from the Born Pretty Store so I thought that would be a good way to try them!

This was my first time using glequins so be nice! :p I painted all nails with Barry M Navy, then painted on the cat using acrylic paint (funnily enough I've had a box of acrylic paint sitting in a wardrobe for years and thought they were watercolours so I didn't think to try them for my nails, so much easier than trying to paint over dark varnishes with lighter ones!). I painted a white square and the side of the face in white first to make sure the other colours stood out from the blue.

Then I put a bit of clear polish on where I wanted the glequins to go (I did a colour at a time rather than each nail) then dabbed the dotting tool in the polish to pick up the glequins and stuck them on.

That took me sooo long, I don't know if it was the dotting tool or the clear polish but it took a while to pick the glequins up. And by the way they get everywhere, I had to change my bed sheets and had this going on under that first picture :p

Have you tried to get glitter off your hands, especially in this heat??

Overall I'm happy with them, I need more practice with the glequins though! They came off pretty easily with cotton wool and polish remover (a few pinged off before that so use two coats of top coat!), the acrylic paint needed the foil technique to get off.

Hope you like! Are you a fan of the Nyan?

Polish Addict Secret Galaxy

Hi! Normally when I see an indie polish I like I'll write it on a memo on my phone, check back a few days later to see if I reaaally want it, check my bank account to see what the damage will be, check back, maybe buy it with my eyes closed. But when I saw this one I didn't even have to think about it and had bought it before Paypal knew what was happening! This is Secret Galaxy by Polish Addict and it is gooorgeous!

This is four coats of just Secret Galaxy, no base colour, and a coat of Seche Vite to smooth the glitter over. It's packed full of green, purple and blue tiny glitter and hexagon glitter then big holographic crescent moons and even bigger circle glitter (I've been dying to get circle glitter in a polish, this is my first one!). I didn't have to do any fishing at all, even the big circle glitters came right out! I did do a bit of placing so the crescents would be more spread about because it is just so packed with them! I love how you can layer this one up so it's like you're looking through the polish at all the lovely moons and circles, *sigh*.

Here it is with flash (and kinda looking like the sky :p)

Here's a mega close up of the bottle so you see all the glitters:

Lovely! I took so many pictures of my nails with this on but none of them do it justice like the first one, I do love that photo :p

One thing I have to add is that it was an absolute pain in the bum to get off, took a lot of scrubbing even after the foil technique (I should buy some tin foil and do it properly really) but it's so worth it!

You can buy it hyar. Hope you like and have the occasional splurge without thinking, it has to be done sometimes :p

Delush Polish Forever Young

Happy Fridayyyy!

Today's mani is the lovely Forever Young by Delush Polish as tips over Essie's Where's my Chauffeur?

For this I painted all nails in two coats of Where's my Chauffeur?, one coat of Seche Vite over that, then I painted the ring finger nail all in Forever Young (I could probably have done without the Essie under it seeing as it covered up my whole swatch stick in only two coats!) and used striping tape to mark out the tips then painted Forever Young on top.

Forever Young is sooo pretty, it's quite thick and white in two coats which reminds me of snow and makes me feel all Christmasy, not that it ever snows at Christmas, but wearing this makes me think of wooly cardis, especially Martin Freeman's big red cardi in Nativity

Sigh...Anywho, this polish is interesting because in normal light and flash you can see white small and square glitters. The above is without flash and this is with:

But when you get it into some sunlight you can see the pretty blue glitters too :D

Pretty special! Plus it also has lovely big red hearts in it. I had to dig a bit for the hearts but I hadn't kept the bottle upside down for a while so it was my own fault. Other than that it goes on really well, I purposely used thick coats but it looks really cute as one thin coat too.

Hope you like!

South Park Nails

This is another one from the saved manis while my nails are growing back. South Park is hilarious and I did my usual thing of going back to episode one and watching every episode a few months ago which inspired this :p I'm not sure why I only took one picture but it might be because their eyes are all a bit funny!

This one was easy-ish to do but it just took forever! I painted them all with Cult Nails Enticing as a sort of skin colour, then used a dotting tool and freehand to do the hats/hood (too many colours to list!) and the Barry M pens in black and white to do the eyes (whites and pupils), mouths, Kyle's eyebrows and Cartman's chins :p I have to say I love this one :D

Unfortunately that's the only pic I have of this one, but I do have another interesting one. When I did this I was still using the foil technique (but without foil, now I use one of these sponge things) to take off my polish so it would always come off onto the cotton wool the same as it was on my nails...

That just makes me laugh :p

And that is that, short post today so here are some Cartman gifs, woop!

Nicole by OPI

As Sid would say, all right! Double prizes!

There was no gif for the double prizes bit, boooo!

Anywho, as it took me so long to post my last update with trying to do it at work during lunch (the signal is terrible) I wanted to do another post. So I shall be showing the two polishes I've got from Nicole by OPI, Alex by the Books and Am I Making Myself Claire?

I was minding my own business when I stumbled across this in Superdrug:

Holy priceless collection of Etruscan snoods, Batman!

I've been a follower of Chit Chat Nails for a long time and had been lusting after Alex by the Books after seeing her post on it, so of course I had to buy it and it's just silly to only buy one polish. So I also picked up Am I Making Myself Claire? They're both from the Modern Family collection (which I don't watch but I can still enjoy the polish right...right??)

So the lavly Alex by the Books is a yummy shiny green.

I just love how OPI goes on, the first coat (or two) seems quite patchy, then the next coat evens it all out and it looks gorgeous. One of the main reasons I always go back to OPI (and Essie) is the wide brush, it makes it so much easier to apply and I'm also loving the shape of these bottles!

I believe this was two coats (over a normal basecoat) and a coat of Seche Vite although it was pretty shiny without it. Once more for the kids:

Moving on, Am I Making Myself Claire? is a sha-weet creamy, dusty purple.

Loooove it. This was also just two coats with Seche Vite.

Obligatory bottle shot...

I used up all my words on Alex by the Books :p But this was also really easy to apply, a bit of a patchy first coat but levelled out on the second. I should add that the patchiness issue could just be my lack of skillz but it still looks lavly in the end.

I did a little bit of nail art with this one but not enough to give it a separate post so I shall share it here

For this I used a Born Pretty Store heart shaped stud (from he-arr, those hearts are gold but I got silver ones!) and a dotting tool (see heeere) for the dots coming off the heart. I used OPI Anti Bleak, OPI You're Such a Budapest (I think! I normally write this stuff down but I didn't for this for some unknown reason, apologies!) and Sally Hansen Showgirl Chic. Showgirl Chic is also used on the little finger. I thought it looked pretty cute. The heart is a bit too flat though so it pinged off quite soon afterwards :p

Well longest post ever, thanks for reading!
