Pocket Money Polishes!

Good evening! When Charlie at Pocket Money Polishes directed me to her website of nail polish awesomeness I only went to have a look and came out the other side seven polishes richer :p

As you can probably tell from the title, these polishes are ridiculously cheap at £4 each (before P&P) but you wouldn't know from their quality! Here I have all seven of these bad boys to show with topcoat and matted :D

First up the one I was most excited about :D Heart of Glass is an amazing polish with red, black and silver shredded glitter, I just looove it, not only does it look brilliant but the title fits perfectly, and I do like consistency!

This is two coats of Heart of Glass kinda dabbed on, I use Let Them Have Polish's chunky glitter method (see it here), it really works! So I did two 'coats' of that over two coats of Barry M Dusky Mauve, although it just looks brown in the photos :p This polish is so packed so there was no fishing needed for bigger pieces but just a bit of placing.

*New favourite polish alert!* I loooooove Wishing on a Star, it's made up of such gorgeous colours! It has pastel green, purple and pink/orange hexes, white, green and purple stars and little glitter flecks. For some reason it makes me think of christmas jumpers :p I imaging being all cuddly in a warm woolly jumper wearing this!

This is Wishing on a Star dabbed as before over two thick coats of OPI It's Totally Fort Worth It. Again no fishing needed, when I took the brush out it was covered in stars and that was halfway through my hand without having the bottle upside down, it's just packed!

Hmm got an awesome orange polish, now I just need a good song title to go with it, how about the most epic song evaarrr?! You need a pretty special polish to live up to that name and indeed it does :D  Eye of the Tiger has big and small orange hexes, black stars and yellow glitter flecks and is lavly. I think it needs to go over a darker orange than this but my other oranges were too dark so you wouldn't have been able to see the hexes.

Yo Adrian! Check this out matted! That's an actual line from the film, honest. This is dabbed again over two coats of Mavala Fresh Melon. I had to do a bit of digging for the stars but I hadn't left the bottle upside down or anything, and it was only a bit of twirling the brush around, not too difficult! It helped build my arm muscles, Stallone would've been proud!

I was looking for a Rocky gif and found this one, as well as it being a sweet moment :p they're wearing the polish's colours!

Firework is yet another lovely one, who am I kidding they're all amazing! It has big purple hexes, blue stars and blue bar glitter. I think it might pop better (pun intended) over a black polish but I had already used black (coming up soon :p) so didn't want to repeat!

This is Firework dabbed (of course) over three coats of OPI You're Such a Budapest and you better put away your rod because there was no fishing required, oh yeah I went there. There was a bit of placing needed though as you can probably tell there are so many purple hexes, I love a packed glitter :D

Keep the Faith was one of the polishes that made me decide to buy a 'few' on the spot, admittedly that's because it reminded me of Billy Joel's Keeping the Faith and not what it's actually based on, but that's as good a reason as any right? :p

Keep the Faith has big and small blue hexes, even bigger silver hexes and blue bar glitter. This is Keep the Faith dabbed over two coats of Rimmel 60 Seconds Black, it is paaacked so no digging needed at all.

Another one I bought because it reminded me of a Billy Joel song (Weekend Song) :p That's not the only thing that makes me decide to do anything I swear! I like Working for the Weekend because it kinda looks like the light reflecting off a disco ball, which says weekend to me :p This polish has blue, green and yellow hexes and bigger purple hexes with no fishing of course.

This is one coat of Working for the Weekend, no dabbing because the glitters came out so easily! Over two coats of Cult Nails Kiss my Rosebush, well I say two coats, it kept cracking for some reason so I had to go over some bits again, but you can't tell on the photos (I hope :p).

Ending on another of my favourites, I Have a Dream is so pretty and again makes me feel very Christmasy! It is packed with glitter including pink and white squares, white flecks, yellow hexes and pink hearts which I didn't even know about until I got one on the brush :p

This is I Have a Dream dabbed over two coats of George Cupcake (yeah really George as in Asda, one of the first polishes I bought when getting into nails about a year ago and never used, it's gorgeous! Or should that be...George-ous?)

There was only a slight bit of digging needed because I didn't know about the hearts so had to look for them, and a bit of placing of the squares, but no problems at all!

All of these polishes came off very easily with the usual 'foil' technique.

So overall I am loving these polishes! I'll definitely be keeping an eye out for new ones, but right now there is a recommend to a friend scheme being tried out where you can get 10% off your first order if you say in the comment box on the order form that I pointed you there (I think Mel from Take me to your lacquer is enough :p) except for on the charity polish. So go chicky check it out! Pocket Money Polishes

Cult Nails Dance All Night Collection Cremes

Yoha! Today I have some looovely polishes to show, the cremes from Cult Nails' Dance All Night collection. I had been dying to get these and there was a 10% off sale recently so I went for it. I ended up paying back what I saved on the customs charges but that's not the point :p

Starting with my 'least' favourite (trying to pick a least favourite of these is like trying to pick your least favourite How I Met Your Mother character, it's a toughie!), Faded is described on the Cult Nails site as a 'blue toned, ever-so-soft, grey creme polish'. I had no idea it was meant to be blue toned, I didn't see any blue tones when it was on and I can't see any in the photos. Luckily I bought it based on the lovely grey colour so I am in no way disappointed! I'm not really a fan of greys but this one is just gorgeous. There are a lot of nice greys but a properly gorgeous one is a must have!

I was just looking up How I Met Your Mother gifs to go with that little mention and found these two pics, they made me laugh so I thought I'd share :p

This is a nail blog and not a HIMYM blog, honest!

Building up, my second favourite is Love At First Sight, argh this colour is gorgeous! It applies so nicely and is so shiny! None of these have a top coat by the way, they shine aaaall on their own. This is described as a 'stunning bright purple cream polish' which is spot on :D

Drumroll please...

Nakizzle's Shizzle is my very favourite of the whole set (and of Cult Nails so far!), it is described as a 'super bright, yet soft, blue creme polish', I would say that's about right, I can't describe how much I love this colour without using the same words over and over and more than my fair share of exclamation marks :p But it's one of my favourites of my whole stash :D

These were all two coats of each colour with no top coat and they all came off very easily with the spongey thing.

While this sale was on I just had to buy the Wax That wax effect top coat. I've been after it since it came out but never got round to buying it, so I finally did it and I'm so glad that I did, it's amazing! I've only used it on the Dance All Night colours so here are the pics so you can see how gorgeous it is!

Isn't it amazing? It dries so quickly too! So glad I bought it, I'll use it on a few different types and brands of polishes to show what it looks like at some point!

So do you have the awesomeness that is the Wax That top coat or planning to get it? I say dooo it!

Pics: This show is legen-wait for it... and I hope you're not lactose intolerant because the rest is dary. Legendary!

OPI Splurge!

Well hello!

I recently found out that the TJ Hughes right next to my work sells full size OPIs for £4.99! I'm not sure if it's because there's something wrong with them, and I'm pretty sure they're not fakes. They change the ones they have quite a lot, the first time I checked it was just lots of different greys and browns but the next time I went in 'just to have a look' I ended up with four. So here they are!

First up is I Don't Give a Rotterdam, a blue shimmer.

To me it looks kind of denim-y in sunlight, you can see the blue better with flash but then it loses its shimmer.

This is two coats on its own, as always OPI levels out really well even without a top coat :D But I do prefer this one matted!

Pretty :D

Next is Dutch Ya Just Love OPI?, a shimmery deep purple.

I love this one so much, it's such a nice colour and applies so nicely. I couldn't really get the shimmer to show in the photos properly, this is the best one:

This is two coats with no top coat, definitely my favourite of the four!

Third is It's Totally Fort Worth It, a silver shimmer (may have gone overboard on the shimmer) but in the right light you can see it has a purple-y red-y shimmer too!

Again quite hard to catch the purple/red but I think I got it in that photo, it looks really nice in real life anyway :p

The purple disappears in flash, but it still looks nice, kinda like a foil. This is three coats and with a coat of Seche because it was a bit streaky (most likely my fault :p)

And lastly is Nothin Mousie 'Bout It, one I've been meaning to buy for a while but glad I waited and got it a bit cheaper!

Nothin Mousie 'Bout It is a pink shimmery glittery polish with cute pink hearts in. This is two coats of Nothin Mousie 'Bout It over the three coats of It's Totally Fort Worth It, not sure if you could build it up without a base colour. I did need to dig a bit for the hearts which would have been fine, but the brush kept falling out of the lid when I turned it around the bottle, I'm not going to complain though for a fiver! The hearts also needed a bit of placing but it's to be expected with big glitter.

I won't include a photo with flash because it loses the shimmer and is just Totally Forth Worth It with hearts on :p I really like the shimmer of this one, it's gorgeous!

So thanks TJ Hughes and expect a new regular customer :p

Fandom Cosmetics Highly Illogical

Yoo helloo!

The other day I tried out my three swatch challenge idea and it didn't go so well so
I thought I'd just swatch Highly Illogical instead, a polish based on Spock's uniform.

I added a stud to jazz it up a little :p

This is described as a blue jelly with silver dust, but I'm sure I can see blue and purple glitters in there too, unless it's just how the light hits it:

I looove it, it gives complete coverage in two coats with no base colour and is ridiculously packed with the glitters/dust, it's very pretty!

My favourite Star Trek film has to be The Voyage Home :p

Might end up watching that later :p Do you have a favourite? Aren't Fandom Cosmetics amazing? :D

Pics: Computer?, Nobody pays any attention to you unless you swear every other word, Are you sure it isn't time for a colourful metaphor?

A month or so ago I started on this Swatchicles project as inspired by Very Emily's blog (here and here), I did post about it but I had a problem with the blog deleting my photos so I'll explain again. The idea is you paint all your varnishes on fake nails (I'm using swatch sticks rather than nails and stirrers because me with a glue gun is just not a good idea) so that when you're deciding what colour to use you can see what they look like when dry and how many coats they need. They also kinda look like flowers but without the upkeep and the smell :p I bought 150 of the swatch sticks (from here), painted each one then labelled them by writing on a piece of paper and taping them on...And now I have finished!

It didn't take as long as I thought but I had run out of scotch tape and kept forgetting to buy some more.

Here they are!

I know I haven't got loads compared to some bloggers, I've got about 160 but that looks like hardly any when they're like that :p It took a while to decide how to store them but I decided on glasses like these which have pride of place on my 'book' shelf.

Told you about the Batman stuff :p

So they're separated into:
Blues, greens, yellows, oranges
Reds, pinks, purples
Blacks, whites, greys, browns
Glitter toppers
Glitter...coats? I don't know what they're called, glitters that can be used without a base colour.

I'm very happy with them! I thought maybe I could do a challenge type thing for myself where I can pick out two or three sticks at random and make a mani out of them, might give me some ideas!

I have so many polishes that I want to put on here, i.e. the whole entire Dollish Polish Princess Bride Collection :o (By the way happy birthday to William Goldman, the author of that amaaazing book!) But tidying the room ruined my nails so they're really short now, *cries*.

Until next time!

Fandom Cosmetics Justice League Collection Part One

Well hello! While I'm taking a small break from my nails to sort out my room I thought I'd post the first half of Fandom Cosmetics' Justice League collection. I was going to do all four in one post but I have half ready and thought why not!

I loooove superheroes so I just had to get this, I made myself stop at DC but I might get the Marvel one eventually :p

I am the Night

I am the Night is a clear polish with black, grey and yellow circles, black bar glitter and small black hexagonal glitter. I love the version of the suit it's based on, it matches my Lego Batman phone case!

This is one coat of La Femme grey cream from ebay with two coats of I am the Night. No fishing was needed because it's so packed! I couldn't see much of the black bar glitter when I painted it on but looking at the picture I can see there's plenty!

I own an embarrassing amount of Batman things so I'll stop at my Batarang :p My only problem with the polish is that it was quite hard to get circles off afterwards, but as I always say I don't do the foil technique properly so it is probably just me!

Now let's take a moment to appreciate the awesomeness of Christian Bale!

He is too cool!

Son of Jor-El

I don't have any Superman things to pose with so I decided to do a bit of nail art with this one. I can't tell you how much I love this polish, it's just gorgeous! It is another clear polish with three different shades of blue holographic hexagonal glitters, yellow circles and biiig red circles. Very cleverly based on the suits and SO packed full of glitter! This is one coat of Barry M Navy with two coats of Son of Jor-El, there was no fishing needed at all but I did need to place the circles a bit, only because there were so many coming out at a time (which is definitely a good thing!).

For the ring finger I painted half with Barry M Navy and the other with Barry M Raspberry using striping tape to separate them. Then I painted the Navy half with two coats of Son of Jor-El and lined the middle with NPW gold studs with a dotting tool.

And all topped with a coat of Seche Vite.

So there you have the first two of the DC collection, these guys are next :p

Hope you like them! Do you have a favourite superhero? :D
